Red Meat is Back on the Menu - Jon Urbana

Wagyu beef is one of the most expensive luxury meats in the world today referring to any cattle that originates in Japan, and is produced in Japan, the U.S., Australia or other country on the planet.

Kobe beef is a type of Wagyu beef raised to specific standards in a part of Japan. Unfortunately, these cows are raised in Japan in a way that is not conducive to their health. They are fed an unnatural diet that makes them fat, typically making the animal sick, and they are not allowed to graze naturally on the pasture.

However, when we talk about the American Wagyu beef raised by KOW Steaks, a company launched in 2016 by Jon Urbana and his cousin at the ranch of their family in southwest Iowa, we are actually talking about cows that can graze freely on acres of open land where they eat fresh grass and drink natural and clean water.

By offering fresh grass and clean water to the American Wagyu beef, there is a great opportunity to raise a cow that has healthier meat,

The meat of the American Wagyu beef is tender, flavorful rich, and has a significantly higher nutrient content and much more fatty acid ratios than grain fed beef, and this translates into a much higher vitamin content as well as ten fold better omega-3 to omega-6 balance.

Rancher-direct American Wagyu Beef fulfills consumer demand for healthier, socially-responsible protein sources

The American Wagyu beef provided by KOW Steaks, is raised in healthier conditions for the animals.

These cows can graze freely on large areas of pastures, which helps the environment and produces a tender meat with a great flavor that is very healthy for the consumer.

By using the original breed of Wagyu cow, KOW Steaks is able to produce amazing products that are above the grain-fed Wagyu on every front.

Consumers feel good about purchasing beef from sustainably-raised, small-herd brands, like KOW Steaks

The first herd of American Wagyu beef was started by Jon's grandfather in the mid-70's, and KOW Steaks follows today the same tradition using small heards of American Wagyu beef that can graze naturally on vast lands of fresh  grass, drinking clean water all the time.

American Wagyu cows that can move freely and can graze fresh grass every day, will produce a superior meat, very healthy and with an amazing flavor.

American Wagyu beef doesn't have such a large amount of fat, but due to the fact that they can graze freely instead of being raised in feedlots, the flavor of their meat it is unmatched.

Grass-fed Wagyu is also fatty, but has an amazing flavor that can only be obtained from grass and from the fact that these are physically active animals.

Using fresh grass to raise American Wagyu beef is pretty new, but the result obtained in terms of marbling, tenderness and amazing flavor of the meat is hard to be achieved by Wagyu cows being raised in feedlots without the option to move freely on the land.
